Sir Roger first contacted Patricia White’s when his wife, Faith, needed support while living with Parkinson’s. Anna-Marie and Nuala both cared for Faith, becoming familiar faces in the couple’s lives. After Faith sadly passed away, Nuala continued to visit, offering Sir Roger companionship and a helping hand.
Over time, Sir Roger and his loved ones have come to regard Nuala as part of the family. She is someone who knows him well, enjoys his company and understands how much it matters to him to remain independent.
Nuala’s approach is thoughtful. She does not automatically step in or offer to do things for Sir Roger. Instead, she gives him the space to do as much as he can for himself, while being there when he would welcome support. That balance allows their time together to feel like companionship as well as practical help.
Sir Roger also has an active social circle, which remains an important part of his life. As Nuala puts it: “He’s not sitting reminiscing about his life, he is still his life.”
Their story shows how a caring relationship can grow and change alongside a family’s needs. For Sir Roger, Nuala is a trusted presence who respects his choices, supports his independence and shares in the life he continues to enjoy.
